Hello, thanks for passing by!

At the moment, I work as a research assistant for the project VIRT-EU (Values and Ethics in Responsible Technology in Europe) a European project funded by the Horizon 2020 program.

In this position, I am conducting qualitative research and I am in charge of disseminating the project’s outcomes in the form of videos and visual material across Europe. In addition, I also help with coordination tasks, qualitative research and writing, and reporting to the EU.

I hold an M.Sc. in Digital Innovation and Management from the IT University of Copenhagen. My master’s thesis was about curatorial practices of art made with virtual reality. My first publication, under review, will be published on Artificial Intelligence / Intelligent Art.

Interests
I am interested in how to link ethical discussions to specific practices of curating, designing, and art-making.

Beside my academic background, I am also trained as a photographer and video maker. At the moment I am exploring the potential of video ethnography and I use the camera and my audio recorders as a way to enter into spaces and universes that teach me social and creative phenomena that otherwise I would not be able to be close to.

In my free time, I like capturing moments with photography.

If you want to collaborate with me or just get in touch, feel free to reach me by email here: barbaraninocarreras AT gmail DOT com or barb AT itu DOT dk.

Most of my photos are analogue like this one, although I enjoy using digital cameras when I work for clients.

This is a 20-year-old monstera deliciosa in the house of one of my photography teachers. The plant grew all the way up to the ceiling. In Colombia, where I am originally from, this plant is called “balazo” and is normally entangled around tall trees in tropical forests.
